OOC INFORMATIONCITY OF KEELIAIINSIDE THE BOTTLETHE WORLD EATER

Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.

OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

"It would have been nice to get an offer for them since I kind of thought needing them would be obvious." She was just kicking herself for expecting Hal to be different from his counterpart and she managed to keep yelling down this time.

Either way, she wasn’t about to ask. "Want to try it right this time?" One day she’ll get along with a Green Lantern, really.

That day may not be today.

To be fair, most of the Green Lanterns are kind of jerks. Or at least, Hal Jordans are. They may be heroes, but they're not really nice people at the same time. It's a pretty horrible flaw.

He gives the girl another look, but its not like it'll take a lot of effort on his part anyway. "Fine," he says, and quickly makes earmuffs for the both of them this time. Once they're both settled the chainsaw comes out again, and Hal doesn't waste another moment before he starts cutting through the trees once more. Seriously, if he's going to have to stop again its really just going to be irritating as hell.

"Thank you." That somehow got out from between her teeth. She purposely waited until he had the chainsaw going with his own earmuffs on before adding: "And didn’t even kill you."

Hot and humid as the swamp was, Korra put her hood up to keep any stray bits of tree from getting caught in her hair. It wasn’t easy to see with it constantly being night and the only light coming from the fungus on the ground or Hal’s constructs. When it felt like something slithered around her ankle, Korra let out a blast of fire that reached a nearby tree and sent them screaming. Well, she guess it sent them screaming, the earmuffs were completely cancelling out any and all noises.

"We’re not going in circles, are we?" After she said the question she rolled her eyes at herself. If she couldn’t hear him, he couldn’t hear her.

Now that the girl has no more reasons to complain Hal just gets to work, chainsaw raring as he cuts through a path in record time. With how close he is sometimes the screams do get though the earmuffs, but Hal just pushes on because its not like stopping with help him in any matter. The sooner this is cleared, the better.

Though, after a certain point, he does stop since he kind of needs to figure out which direction to go next. Hal makes the chainsaw disappear for a few moments he glances around to determine where to go from here.

The path was moving along nicely, but the trees made it hard to determine which direction they were going and all there was for reference was the path behind them, which wasn't exactly the straightest one.

Once stopped, Korra wanted to get a bird's eye view and maybe see where the forest of trees ended. A jump upwards, boosted by a rush of wind underneath put Korra into the air. Before she could clear the top, branches instantly snaked through the air and wrapped around her arms and legs.

Out of pure instinct she yelled as she emitted blasts of fire from all four appendages and tried to burn them off, which wasn't easy being restricted.

Hal doesn't exactly hear the screams (he couldn't, after all), but he does feel the heat of the flames since he's close enough and he turns, quick to spot the pinch the girl is in and really, she wasn't making this easy on herself.

Muttering a few choices words under his breath, Hal quickly constructs a pair of swords, one in each hand as he swoops towards her. The blade flash green with willpower as he neatly cuts through each branch, quickly dodging the others that tried to grab him as he did so. Once the last branch was gone he caught the girl before she could fall back down, holding her in his arms with a sigh. He would have said something, but the earmuffs were still on and its not like his expression wasn't enough to convey his annoyance at the moment anyway.

Feeling the branches burn through her clothes to her skin, Korra bit back the pain and-

was free.

Saying thanks wouldn't have meant much, the earmuffs made that difficult, but being carried made her feel helpless. So, why not: "You don't have to carry me, I can airbend just fine." But she didn't bother yelling it, it wasn't worth screaming over the earmuffs. But she did take the chance to look around while unhindered by branches and saw what looked to be a clearing. Or at least a point where the treetops weren't as high.

"That way." she said, and then groaned and pointed in the direction.

Green earmuffs made from hard light generated from a jerk's force of will turned out to be a lot of hassle. Still, she'd take it over trees screaming.
corage: still did not sign up for this (here comes trouble)

For a bit Hal concentrated more on where he was flying, since the trees were being pretty violent now after the girl's stint with them and what Hal himself had subsequently done, so he didn't really notice what the girl was saying or doing. It took only a while after when they were properly clear of the danger zone then did he pay attention to her - just in time to see her pointing down to what seemed to be a clearing.

He had to admit, it seemed like a good spot. Hal made a nod before he started his descent, doing his best to not rush it and going down all the way, even landing onto his feel before letting her back on her feet properly.

Touching down on the ground, Korra's boots slightly sank into the murky ground and she gave a short, begrudged nod of thanks. The burns were something she'd have to take care of when she had a moment to get some useable water and sit down to heal. A once over where the black marks were showed her the holes that were burned into her jacket.

This just kept getting better.

But the treeline was thinning out here than where they were at earlier. Since they both had their noise cancelling earmuffs, it was time to go to town. Korra gave Hal a double thumbs up, a flame over each one, the smile she gave was slightly devious. Korra brought both her arms to one side and lunged forward to throw an arc of flame that came from the sweeping motion she did with her arms. The edge of the flame actually cut the way a blade would have and also set the trees it hit on fire. Three trees down, the rest to go.

'Your turn.' she mouthed.

Hal had to admit, the girl was pretty good. Not that he knew how she was doing that... fire thing, but it still looked pretty neat. Still, it wasn't as cool as what he could do.

Flashing back a grin of his own, Hal was more than ready to show off what he could do. This time there's no chainsaw, but rather a giant scythe that could also very much look like a titanic weed cutter. Despite the size though Hal wields it quite easily, taking a moment to ready it before he lets out a shout and swings it sharply, cutting through a whole swathe of trees.

Now just try to match that.

Korra raised her eyebrows, rather impressed, and watched Hal carve a path. Taking a quick sniff of air, Korra whirled out her arms and drew the massive amount of humidity from the air and it coalesced into water. They separated into four tethers in the air, each curved liked the edge of a sword.

Then she moved forward, thrusting out her arms before bringing her other foot to swing herself forward into the same position. Circling her steps so she was moving forward, and each step brought two of them forward to lash out and cut down a patch of trees and then the other pair swung around to alternate. Each pass made them grow as she collected the humidity to compliment Hal’s path. Enough for anyone to walk through that would come after them.

The screaming was hardly audible now and she kept pace with Hal while keeping an eye on the treeline before them. With this going, they would be clear in no time.

Not too bad, Hal had to admit, not too bad at all. Maybe there was a point to all that... stuff that she was doing. Maybe he could ask once this was all done and over.

Grinning in enjoyment rather than anything else now, Hal followed alongside her, easily slicing through the trees with little regard to anything else and clearing a path in record time. Besides all the stuff about being a superhero and proving himself and all that jazz, this was--well, this was one of the best things about being a Green Lantern. Getting to go stuff like this. Surely, this was something he couldn't do back in his own world.
