Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.

Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.

OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

"I'm upset because I'm a mess and there's no good reason for it," she replied in an icy tone. "The faster we get back, the better. What I wouldn't give to have my tower back. Alone."

She sounded wistful all of a sudden. As if she'd never had a lonely moment in her tower and it was only a fond memory she wished to return to without question.

Ow. Talk about a kick to the heart. For once, Eugene doesn't have a witty retort to add into the mix. Instead, his eyes reflect a mixture of anger and hurt.

"You have got to be kidding me. After everything--" Draws in his breath, trying to remind himself that this isn't the time or place to get into an argument.

"Fine, I'll get on that exploring."

"I'll be here," Rapunzel said with a huff. Clearly, she is unaffected by his reaction. She found a decently clear spot on the floor and sat down. From there she continued to perform what little damage recovery she could to her hair.

"I expect you to return as soon as you find anything of use."

Keep walking, Eugene. Keep walking. He gets a few feet away from her before coming to a halt and looks over his shoulder at her.

"And you're going to do what in the meantime? Sit there and huff and puff?"

Rapunzel looked shocked at first, but her eyes soon narrow again. "How dare you talk to me like that!?" she demanded.

"Look, I'm not trying to start an argument." Okay, he sort of is but he's trying to make a point more than anything.

"I get that it's tough here and having your hair get all mucked up is a real pain. But getting an attitude and moody isn't going to help the situation."

"You're right," she says calmly and evenly. But it's too calm and too even. As if she isn't really agreeing with him at all.

"What will help is you going out there and figuring the way out."

[offday]

"And you're going to do what in the meantime?" Eugene is looking increasingly unimpressed as their argument continues.

[watcheslanterns]

"I'll wait here," she replied. "There's no point in my getting my hair into anymore of a mess if it won't get me out of here."

She pauses, glancing at him for only a moment before looking back to her hair. "Unless of course you fail miserably. If you want something done right and all that..."

[offday]

Eugene twitches, drawing in every last ounce of willpower he has to not raise his voice when she gets snippy with him.

"Any last parting shots you want to get in before I go?"

If he wasn't so annoyed at the moment, he'd be able to take the situation in and realize something was definitely off.

"No. I don't think so. That's all for the moment."

She waved him off, dismissing him once again.
