EVENT | LANDFALL | KITHIKA | BOTTLE
Characters: ALL!
Date: February 12th - 28th
Location: Kithika, inside the bottle
Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
OOC INFORMATION ♦ CITY OF KEELIAI ♦ INSIDE THE BOTTLE ♦ THE WORLD EATER
Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.
---
OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

"Obviously," he returns, still in his 'duh' voice. Seriously, didn't she see the way he plowed through all the previous trees? Seesh. Kids these days were obviously blind, or something. They really needed to pay more attention to what was happening around them.
no subject
She didn’t pay attention one bit. "Fine. My firebending’s been working, but it’s slow. I have to stop so I don’t go deaf. Show me what you’ve been doing."
no subject
But this wasn't the place for such things. Hal gave the girl a look but did it all the same; he summoned back his earmuffs and simply constructed a barrier around him and a chainsaw in his hands. Without wasting another moment, he dove straight through the trees, completely unflinching to their screams as he plowed through them once more, chainsaw up and ready to shear through any unfortunate branches that were in his way.
no subject
Korra was there to see the line of foreigners that were going into the bottle, and she was sure that they were in the swamp to. "HAL!" She wanted to crush those ear muffs just then. "YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE HERE!" Could he even hear her over that chainsaw, the trees screaming, and those earmuffs?
She’d be surprised if everyone, and everything, didn’t know where they were thanks to that.
you asked for it korra
Stifling down a sigh, he stopped what he was doing and got back to her, giving her his unimpressed look once again. "Now what's the problem?" He showed her and it worked, didn't it? She had no more reason to complain.
no subject
"That's kind of why I had to go slow with my firebending." How anyone could be that self-centered Korra didn't know, not even she would have let someone else suffer next to her.
no subject
"Well, you didn't ask," he returns very plainly, rolling his eyes once more. Seriously, could they just get a move on already? Or maybe he should just leave, its not like she's doing anything remotely helpful for him.
no subject
Either way, she wasn’t about to ask. "Want to try it right this time?" One day she’ll get along with a Green Lantern, really.
That day may not be today.
no subject
He gives the girl another look, but its not like it'll take a lot of effort on his part anyway. "Fine," he says, and quickly makes earmuffs for the both of them this time. Once they're both settled the chainsaw comes out again, and Hal doesn't waste another moment before he starts cutting through the trees once more. Seriously, if he's going to have to stop again its really just going to be irritating as hell.

Hot and humid as the swamp was, Korra put her hood up to keep any stray bits of tree from getting caught in her hair. It wasn’t easy to see with it constantly being night and the only light coming from the fungus on the ground or Hal’s constructs. When it felt like something slithered around her ankle, Korra let out a blast of fire that reached a nearby tree and sent them screaming. Well, she guess it sent them screaming, the earmuffs were completely cancelling out any and all noises.
"We’re not going in circles, are we?" After she said the question she rolled her eyes at herself. If she couldn’t hear him, he couldn’t hear her.
no subject
Though, after a certain point, he does stop since he kind of needs to figure out which direction to go next. Hal makes the chainsaw disappear for a few moments he glances around to determine where to go from here.

Once stopped, Korra wanted to get a bird's eye view and maybe see where the forest of trees ended. A jump upwards, boosted by a rush of wind underneath put Korra into the air. Before she could clear the top, branches instantly snaked through the air and wrapped around her arms and legs.
Out of pure instinct she yelled as she emitted blasts of fire from all four appendages and tried to burn them off, which wasn't easy being restricted.

Muttering a few choices words under his breath, Hal quickly constructs a pair of swords, one in each hand as he swoops towards her. The blade flash green with willpower as he neatly cuts through each branch, quickly dodging the others that tried to grab him as he did so. Once the last branch was gone he caught the girl before she could fall back down, holding her in his arms with a sigh. He would have said something, but the earmuffs were still on and its not like his expression wasn't enough to convey his annoyance at the moment anyway.
no subject
was free.
Saying thanks wouldn't have meant much, the earmuffs made that difficult, but being carried made her feel helpless. So, why not: "You don't have to carry me, I can airbend just fine." But she didn't bother yelling it, it wasn't worth screaming over the earmuffs. But she did take the chance to look around while unhindered by branches and saw what looked to be a clearing. Or at least a point where the treetops weren't as high.
"That way." she said, and then groaned and pointed in the direction.
Green earmuffs made from hard light generated from a jerk's force of will turned out to be a lot of hassle. Still, she'd take it over trees screaming.
no subject
He had to admit, it seemed like a good spot. Hal made a nod before he started his descent, doing his best to not rush it and going down all the way, even landing onto his feel before letting her back on her feet properly.
no subject
This just kept getting better.
But the treeline was thinning out here than where they were at earlier. Since they both had their noise cancelling earmuffs, it was time to go to town. Korra gave Hal a double thumbs up, a flame over each one, the smile she gave was slightly devious. Korra brought both her arms to one side and lunged forward to throw an arc of flame that came from the sweeping motion she did with her arms. The edge of the flame actually cut the way a blade would have and also set the trees it hit on fire. Three trees down, the rest to go.
'Your turn.' she mouthed.

Flashing back a grin of his own, Hal was more than ready to show off what he could do. This time there's no chainsaw, but rather a giant scythe that could also very much look like a titanic weed cutter. Despite the size though Hal wields it quite easily, taking a moment to ready it before he lets out a shout and swings it sharply, cutting through a whole swathe of trees.
Now just try to match that.
no subject
Then she moved forward, thrusting out her arms before bringing her other foot to swing herself forward into the same position. Circling her steps so she was moving forward, and each step brought two of them forward to lash out and cut down a patch of trees and then the other pair swung around to alternate. Each pass made them grow as she collected the humidity to compliment Hal’s path. Enough for anyone to walk through that would come after them.
The screaming was hardly audible now and she kept pace with Hal while keeping an eye on the treeline before them. With this going, they would be clear in no time.
no subject
Grinning in enjoyment rather than anything else now, Hal followed alongside her, easily slicing through the trees with little regard to anything else and clearing a path in record time. Besides all the stuff about being a superhero and proving himself and all that jazz, this was--well, this was one of the best things about being a Green Lantern. Getting to go stuff like this. Surely, this was something he couldn't do back in his own world.
