Satellite Crash Event

Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres

Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas

The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

[ Kara wasn't asleep, she could hear them coming. And more than that, she could hear people around the turtle look up and see the things falling out of the sky. She took only a second to put on some clothes that wouldn't rip up on contact before flying up into the sky to try and avert as much of the wreckage as she can. She can't be everywhere at once, though, and punching large flaming objects takes time and energy. Pieces still get through, for all her efforts. ]

[Yeah, to say the entire state of the Metal Sector was keeping Spider-Man busy would be an understatement for the record books. He'd been on the move since the first piece of debris fell, which was probably for the best-- a smaller piece had crashed through his own suite, though at least for the time being it seemed like the other suites in his building were safe. He had bigger problems anyway.

Like, oh, everything breaking down. He was admittedly impressed by how quickly the local police and some of the kedan were adapting to the situation, but not even they could be everywhere at once. Neither could Spidey, but he'd do what he could--which so far, had been quite varied. It was not unusual to see a red and blue blur swinging into the upper floors of buildings that the rescue workers couldn't quite reach yet, and ferrying people down to safety, and he didn't seem to discriminate between buildings that were actively burning and those that had only partially collapsed from debris.

Rubble was suspended from makeshift nets over the streets as a sign of his timely intervention, saving a few rescue workers and police from being buried by crumbling walls and rooftops of the very buildings they were trying to get inside. Still more webs were strung up under awnings and street lights, where looters and rescued gang members were hastily cocooned in an effort to keep them out of trouble, though plenty more had already escaped their bindings--not by accident either, as the intent was to make them second-guess continuing their efforts, not spend hours out in the open while debris continued to fall from the sky.

Assuming you can convince him to stop for a few moments--or just keep pace with him--you might encounter the webslinger performing any number of these tasks, and looking worse for wear because of it. Especially since he'll be doing this until everything's under control. His costume had already picked up more than a few tears, and there were definitely signs it'd even started to burn once or twice. Heck, maybe it was actively smoldering now, and you just want to give your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man a heads-up that he's kind of smoldering, and not in the good way. He may not have noticed yet.]

[ The smell of burning wood got him first. It had reached deep into his sleep and all Wally could think about was barbecue and roasting marshmallows. In his sleepy state, he ended up shifting and sliding on his bed until he ended up crashing off to the ground. ]

Woa- OW!!! [ He woke up to find that the smell was not just a product of his hungry brain. He could see the smoke pouring in through his window, carried on the wind and it put him into immediate panic mode. The speedster dashed away from the window and went for his suit without question, and from there it was outside of his suite to see what was going on. Then he saw it- fires everywhere.

Forgetting that the kedan were hostile, forgetting that he was running on rations (even with help from other people), he rushed out and began assessing the damage and doing what he could to save lives and property.

[Una's taking a breather right now, sitting on the stoop of a building that has been largely saved, apart from some badly singed upper branches. The last hour?—she's not sure, could be more, could be less—has been a blur of panic and frenetic activity, helping to put out fires and drag people to safety. She's also punched a would-be looter in the face and her hand aches.

More needs to be done, but she needs to catch her breath first. She's wearing army fatigue trousers and a sleeveless shirt, her hair is tucked up under a cap, and she is all over filthy with ash and sweat.

Zelgadis is strong, and has enough magic that he could judiciously use it to clear debris -- and even with his sword secured at home, he hoped he looked imposing enough that the gangs would rather harass someone else. In addition, his old bag of tricks -- normally used for expeditions into ruins -- was especially useful. He took out a dousing crystal, one normally used for finding secret passages and underground rooms -- and was patrolling around the ruins looking for air pockets that might indicate survivors.

"There!" He pocketed the crystal in a quick gesture and went to remove some of the debris. "Someone get a medic!"

[It was sudden really but what about life here hadn't been? In all honesty from what Garth had been learning since his arrival, it was to expect the unexpected but when things where getting out of control like this, it made him grateful that he was able to help to a much larger extent in protecting those around him, even if he didn't know their names or their faces were not familiar. He wasn't sure what brought him to the fire sector but during his travels around this new world he felt it was important to familiarise himself with the area--an area that suddenly found itself being rained down upon by fire and debris.

As a sorcerer, conjuring up water from any humidity around him was a beneficial art to when it came to not having to utilise the natural resources which at times seemed dire from what he had heard about the water already. So using this tactic he took to putting out as many fires as he could, drawing the water in from the air around him and projecting it upon the flames that caught on buildings. Yet, when above he saw Kara forcefully pushing aside the objects, he took to standing in a radius below her.]
Need a hand?

{He called up to her with a small smirk upon his lips because it felt good to stretch his powers despite the circumstances and with energy he could put forth, he shifted from putting out fires, to attempt and catch whatever of the debris passed her, a forcefield like object surrounding him as his hands glowed in a faint orange and blue aura.]

I wouldn't say no! [ It's not really a horrible effort to keep this up, not yet, but she can see how many pieces she's missing, she can hear the screams of the people below her. She has to protect these people. ]

Well I'd say next time-- [He is cut off for a moment as a piece of debris comes spiralling down from the sky, forcing him to move out of the way at the impact. As soon as he is on his feet again though, he's attempting to extinguish the flames it creates.]

[Eventually, the sounds of falling debris had awoken Korra from a very deep sleep after spending a late night lurking on the network and learning just how to play mahjong. It was actually enough to get her to stomp to her front door angrily and open it to see the absolute madness that was raining from the sky, spreading throughout the streets. Nothing was safe. In fact she had to quickly raise her arms to mold a shield out of the pavement to protect her suite from, something that wasn’t a meteor, and quickly turned the new standing cement shield onto the ground which she hastily ran onto.

Using her earthbending to slide through the streets on this makeshift surfboard, Korra made pit stops to shield others with that cement square from crashing hot metal and also using it stamp out fires threatening to spread. Eventually it got to the point where it was too worn down so she had to hastily bend another one. Any outcries of assault or blame were met with a “Yeah, yeah. You’re alive. Get over it.” And other similar nettled responses. She really didn’t have the patience to explain that she was helping them; there was too much going on for that. Webbed up hoodlums got an odd look from her, but she continued past them until she got to one of the skyscrapers that was just a horrible mess. Half of it was missing, destroyed by falling debris and most of it was on fire with some water from broken pipes spilling to the street. Getting a spring board boost from the cement square, she vaulted into the air which didn’t give her nearly enough lift to reach where the danger zone was. Right before her acceleration declined she thrust her arms down, palms open and two fierce gusts of wind blew from both and kept her going upwards. Still not enough and Korra gave roar of frustration her palms closed into fists that shot hot flames at her sides to continue her ascent. Almost there, she stopped her firebending and quickly moved her arms summoning the water from the pipes to her and she hastily pressurized it to push her onto one of the floors of the building.

A familiar blue and red suit caught her eye, practically smoking and she cast the water in his direction. He looked worse for wear and had probably doing this while she was out cold judging by the state of his tights alone.
]

You’re not going to do anyone any favors by dying in a fire! [She called out, happy to see someone she knew who wasn’t trying to blame everything on her. Speaking of which, there were people trapped up here with her too.] Could use a hand.

[She made quick, forceful arm movements spreading her hands outwards in an arc that took the fires off the floor, walls, ceiling and into the air before her. Within moments the only fire within the building was in front of her following her motions until she made large, slow circular motions with her arms. When she slowed to a stop they faded.]

[An explosion is one of those sounds you really can't mistake for anything else, let alone miss entirely. Thanks to The Shredder it's a sound he will forever attribute to pain, destruction, and death. Which is why when he hears it he all about leaps from the seat by his console and books it to a window.

Mike peels back the fabric he uses to black out the window and sees nothing but fire.]

aw crap. that isn't good. that isn't good at all.

[Without further commentary Mike makes a break for his gear and suits up, complete with red mask this time, and heads for the uppermost window. He'll get a better view of what's going on from the roof.

There's a momentary pause as he checks his weapons before leaping out the window. Just a second or two where he considers whether or not this is a bad idea. This is dangerous, hostilities have been high and let's not forget that he's a walking freak of nature.

Then someone off in the distance cries for help.]

To hell with it.

[And with that he's off into the night to help any/everyone who needs it. Surely in such an emergency a guy who can easily deadlift a manhole cover and run a 5 minute mile will be of some use.]

Now is really not the time for that, jerk!

[The sound of boot meeting face and then body hitting ground follow Victor's annoyed yell. He was already out on patrol when the sky started raining debris on them all. Once he got past the shock, Vic sprang into action pulling people out of rubble and helping to put out fires. When he spotted some looters, he got mad and now he's dealing with them.]

[Jeezus, she's only been here for a week and then she sees this mess. Strangely enough? Not the worst thing she's experienced in her life. Still, it's not like she can bring herself to ignore a person in need, even if they're crooks who deserve it. Besides, the rest of the city seemed to have the situation under control, especially since they shooed her away when she tried to see if there was anything she could help with. So, with some effort, she focuses her magic onto the staff and points it to the direction of the looters, willing herself to rely on the magic she can call upon in the Metal District.

It was strong, much stronger than in the other districts, but still affected by the turtle's state making it weaker than it could've been. Good enough for now though, when she focuses on turning those nettings and booby traps to extra cages instead.

Hey, she wasn't going to completely help them.]

Okay, no more sticky fingers guys. Yeesh, at least try to research the place you're looting.

[... Well, that's new. She's pretty sure there's a joke somewhere involving red hot spiders, but that's something she can think of next time.

Right now though? She sees a guy dressed like a red web running around and wearing himself out, and she barely manages to send out a force field to shield him and the residents when loose debris from one of the nearby buildings starts falling down.]

Whoa, hey. Might want to stop getting cooked first before you save the day.
