Event | Satellite | Crash Landing
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 21, 2013
Location: In and around the city of Keeliai
Situation: The early morning hour brings unexpected devastation to Keeliai and the outlying areas. Emergency response and damage control follows!
Warnings/Rating: Fires, minor violence; please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas
The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

WOOD SECTOR
Here, Foreigners may not get a chance to offer their assistance before being taken up on it. Officers and civilians are focused primarily on structures, but will not stop any that seek that preserve life -- which they can appreciate, but priorities. They may ask or tell any that stand around to take action, directing them to fire suppression tasks or structural reinforcement once the flames have been put out in any particular area.
There is little sign of looting going on, with little there to draw the profiteer's eye. Some petty thefts and muggings occur at random interval, but realistically they all know the juulan's better in Metal and Fire. Foreigners apprehending any of these criminals of chance will be told to bring them to a different Sector's precincts, especially as the central precinct for Wood was the first to go up in flames.]
OPEN!
Woa- OW!!! [ He woke up to find that the smell was not just a product of his hungry brain. He could see the smoke pouring in through his window, carried on the wind and it put him into immediate panic mode. The speedster dashed away from the window and went for his suit without question, and from there it was outside of his suite to see what was going on. Then he saw it- fires everywhere.
Forgetting that the kedan were hostile, forgetting that he was running on rations (even with help from other people), he rushed out and began assessing the damage and doing what he could to save lives and property. ]

More needs to be done, but she needs to catch her breath first. She's wearing army fatigue trousers and a sleeveless shirt, her hair is tucked up under a cap, and she is all over filthy with ash and sweat.]

This isn't quite how I imagined we would meet in person for the first time, Una—[No, Richard, don't try to have a good humour about this. You still have smoke in your lungs. Please excuse the coughing sequel.]
no subject
Not what I had in mind either. Water?
[She offers the canteen that she slung over her shoulder before running out of her suite.]

Instead, she leaps into action to help. For as long as it takes to get the job done, Rose can be found helping the kedan that allow her, making sure people still inside the treehouses get out, and putting out the flames. Some of the others seem more concerned with the buildings and the things around them, but Rose is only concerned with life. Finding it, and protecting it.]

A burning limb crashes in front of him, pinning down another man who had been working with him to put the fires out. With a sigh, he looks around, waving to the first person he sees.] Hey! I need some help over here.
[Looks like you're the lucky person, Rose.]
no subject
Well, don't just stand there, come on!
[She grins over in Finnick's direction, feeling all kinds of confident that they can get this taken care of with just the two of them. And she wastes no time in crouching down to try and lift and push the limb up and away.]

OPEN; ping me first!
There's fire everywhere, brilliant orange flames licking up the sides of the buildings and trees and belching out thick, black smoke into the night sky.
Instinct takes over before he's even totally awake, sending him scampering for the door to help in any way he can. He knows his brothers will be doing the same, because that's what they do, it's what Splinter trained them to do.
Since he's got no real tools or skills to put out the flames and the kedan seem quite happy to handle that themselves, he sets himself to searching for anyone who's hurt or trapped instead. ]
HEEEEY! ANYONE TRAPPED HERE?
[ He repeats it over and over again, only stopping to cough into his elbow and carefully dig through rubble and smoldering debris. It's hard to see and after a while he tugs off his bandanna, tucking it into his belt. He's smudged with soot and his eyes are watering but he keeps going. ]
Re: OPEN; ping me first!
Once again Mike finds himself on the roof of his building. Sweaty, bruised, and covered in soot, but otherwise unharmed. It's only now, in the pause for breath, that Mike looks out past his own sector onto the horizon. Much of shell is still burning, especially in the Wood Sector.
His eyes widen. Mikey lives in the Wood Sector.
Mikey who can't be trusted with knives.]
oh no.
[He's just about to leap from the roof when he remembers that with Don gone all his other "cousins" live here in Water, and they might come looking for him. He wipes his face as he tries to think of an option...when it hits him: soot. He knows if they come at all they'll go to the window they know to be safer, so it's next to that window that he writes his message.
Safe. Went to Mikey
With that done he breaks for the Wood Sector.
Mike helps where he can, but mostly he's moving as fast as possible through the rubble and around the fires in an effort to find...]
MIKEY!!
Re: OPEN; ping me first!
Wiping the back of his forearm across his eyes after setting someone down with some other survivors, Mikey stands up and whips his head around as he hears his name.
He recognizes that voice and brightens immediately. ]
MIKE! MIKE, O--
[ He coughs roughly and waves. ]
OVER HERE!
[ Mike might not be one of the brothers he grew up with, but he's basically family and god Mikey wants his family around right now. He's holding it together, but planning and strategizing isn't his strong point and frankly, he's pretty goddamn scared if he admits it to himself. ]

Threadjacking; Sorry, had to delete b/c just did prose out of nowhere OTL
How dare you bring prose here! HOW DARE YOU!
But I can't help myself /sob
I'm sure there's a support group for that...somewhere.
I can stop whenever I want though.
Intervention Party of One, your table is ready.
What to do when your friends and family have letters written in actionspam?
Talk to your kids about the dangers of prose, before someone else does.

Open!
[The girl is starting to pale as she darts from kedan to kedan; she has expended more magic today than she should. How many times has she used Healing? Probably far more than is good for her, but she can't stop. There's always another one just a little further on, someone she can help with just a little more energy . . .]
[Wounds close on flesh and a limb knits back into its socket as Amelia pours some of the last of her energy into a Resurrection spell, working on a kedan woman who'd had her arm severed, bleeding out. She barely hears the glad cry of the family members as, pale, she stumbles to her feet. Suddenly the world seems very far away, swaying dangerously under her feet. She wobbles, her stomach twisting.]
Dated after my thread?
[ Mikey darts out of seemingly nowhere, catching Amelia before she can hit the ground. ]
You okay?
Sure!
I-It's okay! I'm okay!
[World lurch as she tries to stand back up on her own. Instead she slips back against the brace of his arms.]
Um. . . . Maybe I should sit down for a minute.
[She's met someone green like this before, hasn't she? With . . . the same color headband.]
Wait . . . do I know you?

[Noise, at first. And maybe the occasional spark shooting high above. There hadn't been many instances of shooting stars before now, but Zatanna was still in a bit of a post-birthday high and didn't consider anything else initially. Not until she was about fifty yards from her treehouse...and witnessed first-hand the falling debris crash straight into her suite.]
What the--?
[The shock of it all forced her to recoil backwards, and she nearly fell over. Even when she managed to regain her footing, she still stood for several seconds in a stunned silence. Eyes wide.]
...did that really just happen?
[GDI, Keelai, can't she ever go more than a few days without something going horribly wrong?!]
no subject
But it would have utterly stopped when he saw the damage done to the 3A complex from high above in the air, arrowing down towards the burning hole punched through the treetop. ]
No!!
no subject
[As it was, she approached the destruction in something of a half-daze, defaulting her attention to reigning in as much of the damage as possible. There were fires that needed to be put out. Half a tree branch was in danger of falling; she saw to that first, levitating it up and out of the way. Only after did she even consider digging through the rubble.]
[Which she did, lifting into the air high and above to get a look as to how bad it actually was. The most important of items--those she had kept safe in her desk drawer--would've been protected by the seal she'd placed on it. But the rest of the complex...]
That's not good.
[On the bright side, she had a new skylight. A very, very large skylight.]

He needs to get back to Bucky. They can do more together as a team than separately. But he will stop to help anyone he can on his way and if someone needs to be pulled out of a burning building, Toro doesn't have to worry about getting burning going in.]
no subject
He catches up to Toro fairly easily when he sees him flare up in the sky, already smudged with ash and smoke, sweat running in rivulets down his face, creating white tracks through the ashy gray. He's wearing the costume today out of sheer practicality; the bulletproof fabric is much thicker and more protective than his standard uniform, and the mask keeps some of the smoke and sweat out of his eyes.] You gotten the chance to check out our place yet?
no subject
Looks like the place is still good, but some of the trees around it didn't do so well. I can take the heat, but even I can take all of it around here. We need more water around here.

Hey! I need your help for a minute. There are kids inside this house. You think you can hold off the fire long enough for me to get them?

Yeah, yeah! I can siphon the heat off for you. [He swoops down low enough that the fire could be licking his feet and draws the heat up into his own body. Not too fast or else he'll overload too quickly, but fast enough to pull it away from where the kids are.]</small.

When he finds a building ablaze, he raises his golden trident, face lifted, and dark clouds gather overhead, swirling in the sky as they unleash a torrent of rain - no lightning, though, nothing but cool precipitation to douse flames.]
Neptune's beard, do they not care about the people here? [He can be heard mumbling to himself, looking around disapprovingly at the kedan effort as he brings more rain to assist. If he hears any screams, he won't hesitate to barrel in.]
