Event | Satellite | Crash Landing
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 21, 2013
Location: In and around the city of Keeliai
Situation: The early morning hour brings unexpected devastation to Keeliai and the outlying areas. Emergency response and damage control follows!
Warnings/Rating: Fires, minor violence; please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas
The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

[Although Leo does his best to make certain that Mikey's dumpster runs are supervised, he tries not to look too closely at what his brother actually puts in his mouth. The constant refrain of "Mikey, don't eat that" got old when they were about six, and somewhere around that time Leo began to realize that he really had to pick and choose his criticisms of his younger brother, because running that much interference was just too damn exhausting.]
Er – the closest one is through that door. [Leo gestures. It's not the one that Raphael has staked out as his personal space, although Leo would have used it just the same. Raph might complain about the smudges (while Mikey had been spot-cleaned, only a full bath would get rid of all that soot), but no family member would be fooled for two seconds into thinking it was actually a big deal. Not with Mikey injured.
Speaking of their collective soft spot for Mikey, Leonardo doesn't have it in him to sit on his shell while somebody else struggles under the weight of his brother. Sorry Korra, that's just asking too much. Rolling to his feet and stepping lightly, the ninja slips into the room ahead of her and pulls straight the rumpled blankets. (Just because Raphael hasn't claimed this bed doesn't mean he doesn't crash out on it once in a while.) Grabbing a spare that had been tossed to the floor, he holds it at the ready to spread over his unconscious sibling as soon as Korra lays him to rest.]

Thanks. [Korra said with a smile, her voice strained due to her crouching down and rolling Mikey from her back onto the bed, his side that had been wounded earlier was facing up. Finally having herself freed, Korra slumped onto the headboard and let out a long breath.]
What's a jalapeño pizza?
[Making sure to breathe through her nose and out her mouth, Korra looked around for a chair. If anything she'd sit quietly on the bed next to Mikey.]

Well, pizza is… Pretty much the best human food we ever tasted. It's like – cheese over bread with some tomato sauce in between? They top them with pepperoni, anchovies, jalapenos… But those are pretty spicy, you wouldn't want to try them unless you're into that sort of thing.
[Exhausted or not, Leo flips the blanket over his little brother and tugs the edge up to cover Michelangelo's shoulders. The youngest turtle wriggles a little and mutters something about leprechauns; Leo's mouth tugs upward in a soft smile, gentle affection for his brother written all over his face.
Sure is a contrast to when he uses the kid as bait in live combat.
Leo yawns, the reflex cut short by a brief cough of smoke irritation, then looks down and grimaces at the soot remaining on his plastron and the rest of his body. His forearms and hands are clean from working on Mikey and Korra's water-healing soaked the filth off his feet, but the rest is pretty bad. Now that he's finally winding down from the day's crisis/drama he can notice the ache in his lungs and the burning of his eyes. But he's far too fastidious to leave cleanliness until morning, extreme fatigue or no.]
I… think I could use a shower.

[After sitting down on the bed, Korra grinned as she watched Leo cover Mikey. The familial relation was all too clear there. But when he yawned, Korra was compelled to do so as well. Being off her feet for even a minute allowed her body to think it was time to just shut down.]
Yeah, I could too. [Then her eyes looked from the clean, green hands and feet to the rest of the darkened parts of his shell and face.] You more than me though from the looks of it.
[Not about to let her body get too comfortable, let alone start convincing her it was time to knock out, Korra stood up while taking a deep breath.] I think that’s all the crazy I can take from today. Or tomorrow? I don’t even know anymore.

[Leo's chuckle of agreement on her bathing evaluation is tired, barely more than a single huff.] That means you'll be faster; you should go first. [Wincing, he lowers himself onto the solid end-table. Once he gets the weight off his legs, it's not an uncomfortable seat for a turtle, and prevents soot from getting onto fabric anywhere. He sighs in relief.]
Pretty sure it's tomorrow. [Leo rubs the back of his neck and closes his eyes at the ache.] Definitely tomorrow…
Look, I don't know how far you have to go, but – you're welcome to crash out here. [She saved Mikey's life and seems about as tired as Leo himself; there is no way he's going to make her walk home. If she's still here in the morning and on the slim chance Raphael actually has a problem with that, he can take it up with Leo.]
no subject
Thanks, but I think I should head home. Make sure it’s still standing. I haven’t seen since this morning and I know my neighbor’s suite got hit pretty hard.
[Dead on her feet and feeling grungy all over, Korra barely took a step and looked over at the empty beds.]
But you know what, if it’s not there I won’t have any place to sleep. So yeah, I think I will take you up on that. [Korra began taking off her hair tubes and heading towards the bathroom.]
Don’t worry, I don’t take long. [Waterbending always made showers go by faster.]
