Event | Satellite | Crash Landing
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 21, 2013
Location: In and around the city of Keeliai
Situation: The early morning hour brings unexpected devastation to Keeliai and the outlying areas. Emergency response and damage control follows!
Warnings/Rating: Fires, minor violence; please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas
The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

EARTH SECTOR
The hardest hit building in Earth turns out to be the Pedestal, an extensive textiles market grounds in the southern area that has undershell bunker that is the centre of operations for the Amnai Meroz gang as it rebuilds strength after the beating it took during the gang wars. Kedan here are hurriedly trying to extricate weapons, drugs, and juulan before the police arrive and, in an attempt to slow their response, they've hastily tasked the surviving lieutenants to enact widespread looting and rioting at the northern edge of the Sector.
Foreigners that offer their assistance will be accepted by civilians and officers alike, though they may not hold open arms -- pressed by the nature of the emergency and focused on the tasks at hand. They will be asked to dig survivors out and, in another rare shift, be given temporary authority by the Sector chief to arrest any Amnai Meroz members they find disturbing the peace and turn them in to the nearest precinct.]

"There!" He pocketed the crystal in a quick gesture and went to remove some of the debris. "Someone get a medic!"

"I'm here. What are we looking at?"

He shifted a rather large rock with a grunt; Zel was stronger than most humans, but not by that much.

OPEN
[The sound of boot meeting face and then body hitting ground follow Victor's annoyed yell. He was already out on patrol when the sky started raining debris on them all. Once he got past the shock, Vic sprang into action pulling people out of rubble and helping to put out fires. When he spotted some looters, he got mad and now he's dealing with them.]
There are people in trouble! You should be helping or getting to safety, not stealing from them!
Re: OPEN
[Zelgadis spotted the trouble and was heading over: he didn't know many of his neighbors, or which ones were competent in a fight. Or how strong the criminal elements were going to hit foreigners versus local merchants.]

They never listen, you know. [Except that one time Titan did... and it turned out to be a long-term con.]
It really pisses me off that they don't realize there are way more important things that need to be done... but no, there's free stuff to take, so screw everything else! [Lands beside him.]
no subject
I know. But it's either yell or hit them harder and I'd rather not break jaws if I don't have to.
[He nods as Invincible lands next to him, causing the looters that had been preparing to attack Victor to start backing up.]
Screw everything else including their own safety. They're seriously stupid.

OPEN -- Near Amon's Clinic
You- [ Amon grabbed the first kedan he saw that was capable of standing unencumbered. Before shoving them roughly into the throng of chaos he said in low, warning tones- ] Start bringing survivors into the clinic close the market.
[ Though it engendered enough anger to start a new inferno, Amon frantically began looking for the nearest source of water. He sardonically observed how much safer it would have been to be caught in a crisis back in the Water sector; they were so much better equipped to be staring into the mouth of hell. ]
Anyone still standing can find me doctor Natu! You run fast enough for own lives; you can offer the same courtesy for those around you!
Re: OPEN -- Near Amon's Clinic
Help! [Korra turned around, still sweating from just the Metal Sector alone, to see one of the kedan trapped under a collapsed building. Sweeping her foot forward while thrusting her arms upwards in one fluid motion the remnants of the stone building lifted and Korra brought her arms in a circle to her chest before punching them both forward causing the rubble to shoot off and blanket another fire off in the streets. The kedan got up and hastily ran.]
Get to the clinic! [She yelled after him, breathing heavily. As she caught her breath she made a slow motion with both her arms all the moisture from her clothes, skin, and hair slid off into the air. With a flick of her wrists the murky liquid turned crystal clear as all the dirt fell to the floor and it’s temperature dropped to a cold degree and Korra bended the pure, cool water to her mouth to drink. That’s when she spotted-]
Amon!

Amon hurdled over the wreckage out into an open area that had once been a small courtyard separating each market stall. It had also, he realized as he hit the last stride in his mad dash away from the wreck, brought him closer to Korra. Distantly he wondered if wearing the mask in lieu of more suitable protective headgear had been a mistake- it wasn't a mask, it was a symbol. One that would not engender cooperation between them.
Amon stalked towards her with haste; his shoulder taut and posture menacing. There was a scream, someone still escaping, so shrill it seemed to break through the stone surrounding that it punctured any doubt of how this was going to go down between them. His mind was made up. In an instant Amon closed the distance between himself and his most hated enemy and, ]
The fire is being fed by the textiles and it's too oxygenated to go out on its own. [ He pointed towards the worst of it where the smoke was oddly coloured and foul smelling. ] Dyes in the fabrics are making it worse so water will be ineffective; you'll need to smother it before it spreads.
[ Then something snapped in him as it dawned on Amon just who it was he was talking to. His eyes went cruel and cold again as did his voice when he dropped all composure and started to shout. ] What are you waiting for? Now!

Amon! Do you need any help- Don't try to get away! [The last sentence was aimed at one of the gang members, who bolted, only to be quickly knocked to the ground by a well aimed Charter spell.]
no subject
As one gang member went down after being hit square in the chest with a Chart spell, Amon feinted a sharp left and barrelled into the ones stalking behind Sabriel. Wordlessly and with deadly precision, he jabbed them both in the neck and limbs before they crumpled to the ground. He turned back to Sabriel and nodded in greeting. ]
I was about to ask you the same thing.

He'd barely gotten out. He'd barely gotten out, he could be trapped, it was a miracle of Blessed Elua that he wasn't, and what was he going to do?. He knew he shouldn't be panicking, he should be helping the others, more homes than just his had been hit, but he couldn't seem to move his feet from the ground or stop staring at where his home had been just moments ago.

"Alcuin!" Sabriel grabbed his shoulders- not unkindly, but a little roughly, and shook him. "Don't just stand there- we're Charter mages, we have to help!"

Open
After managing to get free, Prussia pulls on a dirt covered shirt and shakes the rocks and glass out of his boots before lacing them up to find out more about what the hell just happened. Only to run into gang members looting houses nearby and like hell is he going to let that stand! The fact he does have a weapon besides a knife in his boot won't stop him from taking them on.]
/drops in
Of course, some will always see a disaster as an opportunity, and Bourne notices some unscrupulous kedan looting nearby houses and ruined shops.
That actually makes him angry.
More kedan have shown up to help free others from the debris, so he slips away and proceeds towards the nearest group of looters. It looks like this other guy has the same idea.]

OPEN...
Well! [he mutters lowly, in that sort of distraction that sounded like he was chattering only for his own ears.] Well, well, well. A bit overmuch. Less firm concentration next time? Where is that silly girl when she is wanted!
[The shock and awe at his own unsettling capabilities passes in the face of a crisis. Charter Magic is a novel thing to him, and he is still unused to the tingling, to the measure of control he must exert to keep his attacks at a 'stun' and not 'injure' level. He raises his voice to a well-practiced, authoritative snap.]
All right, that is enough! Break it off! Your supply is finished, [...in the immediate area, anyway] let's not swipe the goods from under the rug and collar each other like barbarians!
[... And that would be one way to declare yourself Public Enemy to the major Earth Sector gang of the North, striding right into the center, muttering to the surrounding women and children to snatch their families and run out of there, and initiating a blast meant to cripple the supply. Good job, Javert.]

What did you do?
[At least he didn't seem to be injured- and Sabriel had taught him that particular spell. Still, Sabriel kept her sword out, with one eye on the gang members as she looked around, and spotted broken weapons amidst the wreckage.]
