Satellite Crash Event

Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres

Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas

The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

[Was he trying to pull Guardian rank on her?]

This is what I signed up to do. Even before I was brought to this place. Heck, my first unofficial mission had the lot of us fighting next to an active volcano.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to be worried. Go ahead and freak out, if that's what you want. I'll wait until you're done. But don't you dare try and sacrifice yourself for me. Because I swear, I'll bring you back just to re-kill you myself.

[An idle threat, of course.]

[She stopped to take a deep breath. Some of the fight leaving her.]

I'm not losing anyone close to me, either. Not again. Which is why we'll both be fine.

[ Jack seems to sense the tension between them calming slightly, unwilling to stir it up again. He didn't have the words for this, wished for a moment he could just push onto Zatanna the awful knot of emotion that had tangled up inside of him when she'd gone into that duct and he couldn't see her. ]

Fine.

[She still had very little idea just how strongly he felt about it. All she could know was how she felt about it...something she was already trying to repress in favor of a weak smile. Shoulders slumping in relief that the argument was slowly fading.]

[It kind of sucked when they fought, honestly. Hadn't Jack always been the cheerful one? The youthful, playful spirit who always made her laugh. Made her feel happy. She was essentially seeing a whole new side to him now, and she wasn't quite sure what to make of it.]

You can relax, you know. We're out of both the frying pan and the fire, and I think your hair's too white to start turning grey now.

[ The joke seems to break the last of the ice (no pun intended) between them and he runs an absent hand through it. ]

Probably, but let's not take that bet.

[ He knew they'd both go back out to look for others who would need help. He wanted to do something about it, but he knew he couldn't right now. ]

Let's go then. Stick together? We do make a good team.

[She echoed his motion, also lifting a hand to lightly weave her fingers through a few of his front locks. Toying with them for a moment before smoothing them down much as a mother or older sister would, despite the fact that it was suddenly a lot harder to see him as the "younger" brother.]

I suppose I've caused stranger things to happen.

[A grin. Some of their usual spark was back (albeit it with the underlying realization that they were leaving a lot unsaid for now) and she nodded in agreement.]

Deal. Ready to go?

I don't doubt it.

[ He grasped his staff and gave her a nod. ]

Let's go.

[Pushing herself off the medical cot, she rose to a stand. Her legs held pretty well, rejuvenated from the rest. In fact, aside from that very faint dull ache in her chest, she felt as good as new.]

Way ahead of you.

[She reached out to give his hand one last reassuring squeeze. I meant it. We'll be fine. Walking backwards her first few steps as she maintained eye contact, she waited until her arm had to stretch out to cover the increasing distance between them before she finally dropped hands, turning to head out the door.]
