Event | Satellite | Crash Landing
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 21, 2013
Location: In and around the city of Keeliai
Situation: The early morning hour brings unexpected devastation to Keeliai and the outlying areas. Emergency response and damage control follows!
Warnings/Rating: Fires, minor violence; please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Fire Sector | Earth Sector | Metal Sector | Water Sector | Wood Sector | Outlying Areas
The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal and space debris. Those out and about in the very early morning (three hours before dawn) see a meteoric shape streaking overhead and leaving a debris trail. Those interested in following it may find themselves distracted by the debris raining down across Tu Vishan, starting fires and damaging buildings turtlewide. Tu Vishan certainly is, for the great turtle grinds to a halt amidst all this and a trace of concern for the little ones on his shell can be felt in the minds of many.

[A quick look at the wreckage blocking the stairwell is enough to put a grin on her face.] Sure thing Spider.
[Straightening out her leg and placing her left foot before her, Korra leaned back putting the center of her balance onto her right foot. With a shout she thrust forward, her upper body sideways so her fists were vertically parallel and taut. Reversing her stance caused the massive debris to shoot forward, most of it going going through and replacing the wall.]
Cleared for mass evacuation. I couldn't get any high than here from the ground, so I have no idea if anyone's in the upper floors.

[Because it hurt, Korra. Survivable, but that doesn't mean he likes the idea of it happening. Just like he's also less than thrilled at the news that there could be more people still in the building higher up. That pretty much replaces any lingering amazement at Korra's apparent skillset, powers-wise.]
Fantastic. Okay, you start getting these people out through the stairwell, I'll check the upper floors. This place is falling apart, they're gonna need one of us with 'em to make sure they make it out okay, and between the two of us you're the one-woman wrecking crew.
[For all he knows, the rubble she just cleared isn't going to be the only obstacle. Come to think of it, knowing his kind of luck it definitely wasn't going to be the only obstacle. Which is precisely why he wasn't leaving the matter up for debate, and took off toward the stairwell at a run--still on the ceiling, naturally. Kept him out of the way of the others.]
I'll send anybody I find down after you! And make sure you stick to the stairwell!
[He'll explain fire safety in modern buildings to her later, if he's got the time. And, y'know, doesn't die horribly. Once he makes it to the stairwell he's gotta drop off the ceiling, but starts leaping from wall to wall to make the trip up to the next floor a lot faster.
Korra's probably gonna be on her own for a few minutes, though. Here's hoping she's got better luck than Spider-Man when it comes to rescues.]

[Watching him run upside down on the ceiling was a little creepy and pretty cool at the same time. Even weirder when she running for the stairwell at the same time.]
I'll be back up after the escape route and everyone's clear in case someone's too injured to get out.
[With the kedan following her, Korra made short work of any blocking debris and rubble by earthbending back into the building, reforitfying the structure as they made their way down the floors. Sure it didn't look as good as new, but it was definitely just as strong. With a minor fire hazard diverted by smothering it with crumbled stone, Korra wended her way down, checking each floor for any survivors. Her intial troop of kedan had nearly tripled in size by the time they got safely to the bottom. Whether or not they appreciated what she and Spider-Man had done wasn't anything she paid attention to as she herded them outside.
Once they were cleared, Korra raked her arms in the air towards herself and a ledge formed from the wall of the building and she hopped onto it. Using a foundation stance while repeatedly moving her arms up then down Korra slid up her makeshift elevator until she got to the upper floors she hadn't been through. Pushing her arms down with her palms facing the floor the wall before her practically melted away and she walked through it. The ledge outside propped up and filled up her temporary doorway.]
You better not be on fire again! [She shouted half jokingly, half serious.]

[Two can play at that game, Korra. And he's way more used to teasing friend and foe alike than you are. He's also come up largely empty handed on his search, which, in the grand scheme of things? Finding just one trapped kedan in a building this badly damaged, and on fire, was definitely a good thing.
The kedan in question is currently draped over Spidey's shoulder as he runs around the corner into the room Korra's turned into an improvised elevator lobby. The man's obviously seen better days, and there's a few patches of webbing on him, a few starting to stain through. But for now, the imrpovised bandages are helping stop the bleeding.]
Just the one. Debris must've dropped the next room up right down on him. He'll be fine if we can get him to a medic-- how'd you get back up here so fast, anyway?
[Since he was reasonably sure the Avater didn't have spider-powers.]
no subject
I earthbended my way back up here. Set him down, I think I qualify as a medic. [With a side snap kick, a part of the wall on the other side of the room crumbled revealing the sinks and stalls for bathrooms. Hurriedly, Korra drew water out of the faucets and to her hands with a few well trained motions.]
