TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

[ While originally Akito had planned for a pool party, it was quickly brought to his attention that a pool wouldn't be able to contain the sheer amount of turtle it would need to for all of the Tel Vishan. So he just as quickly amended it to be a beach party and began planning it out in earnest - food and refreshments were acquired via donations from the kedan, and conversing with Quintus about what he and he siblings might want to do while at the beach.

All things considered it was pretty easy to get everything organized, and by the time Saturday rolled around Akito was brimming with a mixture of his own excitement and run-off from Quintus.

After making sure everything is set up, the first thing Akito does is jump into the water to cool the hell off, clothes be damned. ]

Zelgadis isn't sure what he's doing there, besides that Napoleon wanted to go to the beach and play with his siblings, and Zel promised he'd take a day off. Now he's wading out, watching the turtle play in the waves. He nods to Akito.

[Enjolras grew up by the sea, and though he's spent a good deal of the summer locking himself away, overworking himself at the hospital until they pushed him out, or working on getting the newspaper running, he was hardly going to pass up the chance to let Taraja have fun with her siblings. Even though that means actually wearing what is considered bathing wear around here.

Thankfully, given the large foreigner population, that does include swim trunks, at least. In mixed company, which, with Enjolras, includes the young turtles, there is no way he is going to wear anything less, even though it feels a little odd to actually wear clothing into the sea. As it is, he also feels odd OUT of the water because of how little clothing he IS wearing, and really, the entire thing feels sort of strange to him, which is probably why he can be found spending most of the day in the water itself, racing with Taraja and any other takers, and letting her tow him around a bit while he gets back his energy.

Either way, he looks completely at ease for once, seems to be laughing more, and less guarded than he usually appears. Someone might even be able to get a conversation out of him that does not border on nervous, highly detailed, or extremely sarcastic. Care to take your chances with him?]

[It was actually Taraja that Midii recognized first, having known the Turtle from more than just her own connection with Riva. A sad smile graced her lips as she approached, waiting until she was recognized before placing a gentle hand on her side in greeting.]

Hey, girl. Remember me?

[Of course she would. Damian was gone, but Taraja wouldn't forget that easily. Not when Midii had taken the time to look after her even before he left for good.]

Richie + Marcelon

[There was no way that Richie wasn't going to take the time to teach Marcelon beach volleyball. She's precocious and enthusiastic as usually, trying to knock the ball back to him with her beak with more force than he'd expected.

She's not that great and moving around to catch the ball, but she makes up for it by making him dive to the ground to catch one of her serves. He laughs and shakes as much sand from his hair as he can and fixes his glasses back in place.]

Okay, we need to get some challengers over here so we can be on the same team. You keep hitting like that and we'd have it in the bag.

[Tony wanders towards the beach, hands shoved into the pockets of his swim trunks. He feels pretty awkward showing up at this beach party without a turtle, but word of the event had gotten around, and it was apparently open to all, so Tony had decided to at least go and scope it out. He's kind of curious about these psychic baby turtles, anyway. And... he probably needs to get out of the lab more.

There are a few people and turtles swimming and lounging on the beach, but what really catches Tony's eye is a turtle attempting to play volleyball. And not doing to badly, actually. He walks over.]

Wow, a turtle playing volleyball, [he says with a friendly grin.] This place gets weirder every day.

Midii & Riva

[Midii wasn't really one for volleyball. She knew how to swim, but had little interest in doing so recreationally. The sun didn't bother her much, even though she was fair, but she still preferred to remain beneath the shade. It was cooler there. Riva preferred cooler, so that's where she remained. Close enough to a shallow area of water where the not-so-baby Turtle could splash around, but far enough away that it wouildn't get the book in her hand too wet.]

[Every so often, Riva would call to her telepathically. Wanting her to watch the newest trick she was learning. Normally, Midii would have only been half-interested at best...but, even when one didn't take into account their connection, she had to admit there was something endearing about a Turtle who loved to Learn.]

[Which may or may not have been partially her influence.]

I see, Riva.

You're getting better.

[They're not alone for long...! Splashing his way over is Captain Bobby Tennyson, chattering away excitedly to Annabeth trailing behind him. She's fast, but the turtle's in water and probably faster, so Bobby's already saying his hellos to Riva and watching the other turtle do her tricks with keen interest by the time Annabeth skids over.]

[She's grinning, shaking her head at them when she spots Midii over in the shade. Waiting for her to look up from the book, Annabeth lifts an arm to wave. She's back to sporting her summer tan, and all her scars are a bit more visible in the tankini swimsuit she's wearing. She doesn't quite speak up though - if Midii doesn't want the company, she won't interrupt.]

[Bobby on the other hand doesn't seem to care about much beyond being impressed by Riva's trick.]

Because there is little she won't do for those in her care, and also because Ryder asked very politely several times in a row, Raine found herself roped into attending the beach party. She stayed a fair distance from the water, mostly in the shaded areas: she'd had more than enough sunburns for one month. After a little while, however, judging that there were more than enough other responsible parties capable of looking after the turtles, and knowing that Ryder would alert her if any kind of serious trouble arose, Raine felt secure enough to start sidling back toward Keeliai proper. More than likely no one would miss her much.

Skulduggery had been roped into the party for a very similar reason. Quintus refused to let him do anything else, badgered him until he said he might show up, and then happily told Gazelle that Skulduggery would definitely be there. While Gazelle was much more polite and didn't try to force him into anything he didn't particularly want to do, Skulduggery reluctantly decided to put in at least a token appearance. With the token appearance given, he was also looking for a way to sneak off without his foster turtle noticing.

That was probably why he noticed Raine.

False face for the day still in place, Skulduggery sidled off to join her, trying to avoid getting too much of the beach's peculiar sands on his newly-polished shoes. "Hello," he said once he was close enough not to need to shout. "Fancy meeting you here."

Garrett Hawke | Open

Hawke has been here since the beginning since Akito talked him into helping. Now that the party is up and running however, Hawke finds himself without any real clue what to do. He's never really been to a beach, and he's certainly never been to a party at the beach. So for the moment Hawke just finds himself standing aimlessly at the party without any real idea what to do. It seems there's a first time for everything.

Hawke should have some idea of what to do when a sopping wet teen runs up to shoot a short blast of water in his face. He may or may not get dragged into the water later on, but for now Akito figures that he can get some good practice in with his Waterbending in the form of a water fight.

Wherever one of them is, the other is bound to turn up. Or at least that's how it's been in Nilin's experience. Without a sound, she moves to stand at his side, arms folded as she looks towards the water.

"So... Just what is going on, exactly?"

[Zuko isn't here because he knew there was a party or anything. Really, he's still trying to adjust to life in this place and knows very little about what's going on.

The reason he is here though, is because he feels drawn there somehow.

He looks around, seeing a lot of people he doesn't know and several... turtles? Zuko is walking around, looking a bit lost and confused and a bit out of place since he's not exactly dressed for swimming or anything.]

[Wan was keeping himself cool without much effort. Despite being dressed in clothes obviously designed for cold temperatures, he wasn't sweating at all. He was sitting at the edges of the beach, watching everyone - the turtles especially - enjoy themselves. It let him keep an eye on Rio'era while also people watch. Which he was having fun doing.

When he spotted Zuko, though, he stood up, dusted the sand off himself, and jogged over to say hi.]

[Jackie's hanging out either in the water or with Rio'era. He's trying not to get too deep - he's not used to doing a lot of swimming - but he's trying.

Since he's wearing a swimsuit, his Sun On Yee tattoos are very obvious. There's a dragon coiling up his right arm, Guan Yu on the back of his left hand, and a phoenix on his chest. Ask him about them? Or don't.]

[Anton switched out with Raine, so to speak, in watching Ryder during the party. For the most part the turtle doesn't seem to need much supervision, however, and Anton has wandered down to the surf. Yes, he is still wearing his suit. He hasn't even taken off his shoes and socks.

[It's habit. As a youth even Anton would have removed his shoes and socks at the beach, but refusing to do so always got a reaction from Larrikin. The trouble, of course, is that Larrikin isn't here, but it's been long enough without him that Anton hasn't noticed that there's no one to make him take anything off. He's just gotten used to not.

[He stands by the water's edge and watches the Chinese youth in the water, hands behind his back, without trying to pretend he isn't watching.]

[Oh, hey, she definitely knows that guy. How's he been doing? She should find out.]

[In the interest of at least pretending this party is someplace she wants to be, Raine heads Jackie's way, stopping several feet before she's in any danger of getting wet. She doesn't at all look like she's ready to get wet, either; while she may have abandoned her jacket in concession to the heat, she hasn't otherwise changed her style.]

[She waits for Jackie to be facing the shore, waves a friendly sort of greeting at him.]

Kalliel had seemed excited about cooling off in the water, so Gene had (somewhat reluctantly) agreed to help chaperone the turtle that had chosen him. He wasn't too keen on festivities, after the few months he's had, but maybe they'll help.

And did you know that the kedan totally make bright yellow swim trunks? Because he's wearing bright yellow swim trunks. One must keep to a theme, after all.]

[Tony's been at the beach for a while, socializing and decimating the refreshments when he spies a familiar figure wearing a familiar shade of eye-searing lemon yellow.

He waffles for a little while, nibbling distractedly at some kind of cracker, until finally deciding to bite the bullet and go over and see Gene. After the whole ring... event, he's not really sure where they stand. He meanders in Gene's direction, trying and failing to look nonchalant.]

Hey. Uh... nice turtle.

[Taraja had been very excited about the beach party, and while one of her other 'parents' was spending time with her the young turtle had desired Amelia's presence as well.

For her part, Amelia is mostly uninterested in idle past times such as beach parties, but she's fond of Taraja no matter how little time she's spent with the turtle. So here she is, albeit dressed as she normally is, properly and of her status as captain.

The same cannot be said for others.]
