Weaving her way between the four waist high baskets, Korra got to the door of suite and hesitated before knocking. Dawn wasn’t the best time to be doing this, and she felt especially bad because normally Korra would be sleeping in. If anyone had knocked on her door at this hour, she’d make them regret unless it was for a good reason.
A good reason; yes, this should definitely count as a good reason.
Steeling herself, she knocked hard on the door. Korra really liked her job and the hours, or minutes rather, were perfect for her. Losing it over upsetting her boss would be a serious blow. Hoping Finnick was more of a morning person than she was, Korra adjusted her hair and rubbed her eyes.]
slides on in, a thousand years later
He slipped out of the bed, making sure Katniss was still asleep before leaving the room. The girl on fire, on the other, was not the greatest of morning people, and he'd rather she slept instead of trying to shoot whoever it was.
Finnick answered the door in his boxers - if they were coming to bother him this early, they could get used to seeing him without clothes. A grin tugged at his lips when he saw Korra on the other side.] Now this is the kind of wake up call I could get used to.
I WOULD HAVE WAITED ANOTHER 8,001 K? <3

To eat first and then show him the training areas on the second floor or vice-versa was a decision she would leave to her furry guest. Maybe he could show her some of the style used by the Dragon Warrior and she could show him some of the bending styles. Without bending of course, she was starting to become more adjusted to not having it. Not comfortable or content, just adjusted.
Just as Korra sat down and put her feet up on the desk to kill time poking around on the network, there was a knock at the door. Quickly she went to answer it.]
Hey Po! Come on in. [Okay, so he was a lot furrier in person (animal?) than over the network. Part of Korra wanted to hug him, because that’s what friendly furry animals were for.]
no subject
He smelled it before she even opened the door, dark nostrils flaring as he took in the scents and placed them accordingly in his head. Flour, he could pick up, and a variety of spices, and it all smelled wonderful. Of course, that wasn't what he was here for, but if she had taken the time to cook, he'd take the time to eat.
When he wouldn't take the time to eat would be more of a question, and one that Po would rather not answer.
While Po seemed furry and, perhaps, tall, Korra seemed tiny. Every human (or human-like creature) he'd come across seemed small and fragile, though he knew one's size hardly equated one's strength. The way humans spoke about them, he'd be curious to see how they'd react to the idea that the strongest warrior he fought with was a small praying mantis. But that would have to wait for later, because Po was smiling down at her, keeping his nose from quivering in the direction of the food, and eventually ducking his head to get through the door without bumping his forehead right into it. He'd learned that one the hard way.]
Hey! You're cooking? What are you making? Unless it's a surprise, then don't tell me. Because then it won't be a surprise.
[Very eloquent, as per usual. She's free to hug him, though. He's very open to it, even if it doesn't happen much in the circles he runs in. But, hey, he is furry, and he is friendly, and if that's what humans do with animals like that? Then he can deal just fine.]

This is to block a punch aimed at anything from your chest and up. Now remember: you’re not trying to punch their hand, just push their wrist aside with your forearm. If you can block left with left and right with right, that will leave their side open.
[Korra stopped doing the demonstration and got onto her haunches in front of Bean.]
Now show me and then I can show you how it works in actual practice.
[After giving him the basics of kicking and punching, just enough to run away, Korra was getting ready to teach Bean how to be offensive if forced to fight in close quarter combat.]

Once she was at the top of the stairs, Korra gave a little stretch to her arms and legs before making her way over to Dinah in the open training area between the workout room and the meditation room.]
Think the wooden dummy might be needed? [Unsure if Dinah was used to displaying martial arts with or without a type of aid, Korra felt best just to offer anyway.] That is if you want to go first.
no subject
[Dinah isn't really used to displaying martial arts at all: she's more likely to show someone directly what she's capable with her fists and feet. Flexing her fingers in their gloves she glances around the space.]
I don't mind going first. I just might have difficulty figuring out where to start. Probably with a form of karate, that might be closest to what you know.
[But of course, Dinah has no idea.]

Having thought of any instances where it might come in handy, Korra brought along her custom metal glider staff. It had only been tested out once when she first got it and the results were a lot less than spectacular. At the time Korra felt like her nose got permanently bent from speeding her face into the ground.
Once there, she hopped over a roof’s edge and slid down the side. Halfway down, a ledge cropped out of the building and Korra vaulted it off it, happily laughing to her landing on the ground.]
Isn’t this GREAT!?
[That had to be asked of Tony. He had to have missed having all of his armor too. It was like she was discovering bending all over again.]
no subject
He saw Korra leaping from rooftops as he drew near their rendezvous point and shot straight upward, flying over the spot and diving downward to show off before pulling up at the last minute.]
Feels just like coming home.
[He was quiet, but there was still that edge of excitement underneath his relaxed greeting. Flying in the Iron Man had always made Tony feel better. It made him feel more confident and maybe even more himself. He couldn't help being just as pleased as everyone else to feel the metahuman powers kick in again. He landed carefully, with a slight thunk as he tapped down.]

From one form to the next, Korra shifted effortlessly between water, ice, steam and back to water again. The element of change required versatility is what Katara had taught her and Korra was starting to appreciate water’s functionality. Fire was always her favored element, but water held a special place for her. Especially now that she had been without it for what once an indeterminable amount of time. Her arms and hands folded over each other in the air without touching, forming a perfect sphere of water before her and Korra saw someone through the red blurriness.
Even without a definitive shape, Korra recognized that composed posture and confident stance all too well. The next word slithered from her lips disdainfully, piercing the air, and the sphere formed a ripple that traveled from the side facing her to the opposite end.]
Amon.

If I didn't want you to spot me, you'd know it.
[ Water Tribe-blue eyes crinkled behind that ever present mask, implying Amon had the gaul to smile at his hated adversary. A show that the fact her powers had returned to full strength did not faze him in the least. ]

…She’d cross that bridge if she came to it.
Being inside of the place was creepy enough, but Korra was also alert in case she came across Amon. Thankfully she found a kedan volunteer to help her out. She asked her question while looking around in just about every direction.]
I’m looking for the green ring taking care of Ja-
[Cutting her off mid-sentence, the kedan directed her towards a separate part of the clinic. Giving her thanks, Korra hurriedly headed into the other section. Then she almost bumped into-]
You’re not Dr. Natu. [Korra said smartly as she her parked her heel so as not to bump into the man with dark hair.]

Wherever he is, he's seated cross-legged, eyes closed, and utterly motionless. He makes a mudra with his fingers atop his knees and stays there, unmoving and silent, for about half an hour. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Anyone approaching, though, he'll notice-- and open his eyes to look at levelly, completely calm and not quite ready to swim out of the depths of his consciousness yet.]

A tiny shadow caught her attention near the top of one of the tall buildings in the Metal Sector, marring the otherwise bright reflection given off by the sun. Just when she was about to decide that it was human, it vanished over the edge of the building. Her curiosity piqued, Korra ran across the street and looked up from the ground directly underneath the spot she had seen it. Raising her arms up to her ribs forced a roughly square patch of cement to lift her up. Moving her arms in a continuous wide circle, the platform slid up the side of a building. She slowed once she got near the top, and the pavement elevator stopped just short of the edge.
First her hands appeared over edge, followed by her ponytailed hair and then finally her eyes, which scanned the top of the roof. They landed on a man sitting, rather comfortably even though his back was straight.
A small gasp.
Korra knew a meditative position when she saw one, but way up here?]

A promise she made to herself once she had her bending back was to fully heal Raimei's injuries from their excursion. Then; then Korra would feel like she had at least done one thing right. Even with the packs that were delivered to them in the field proved useless when it came to using waterbending’s healing properties. A continuous state of concentration and focus was required, lasting longer than thirty seconds. By the time five minutes had passed, the process would have to start all over again making it effectively pointless.
When the two storied units came into view, a small, weak smile managed to come across Korra’s face. Raimei had proven herself a true fighter to the young Avatar. Having a deep sense of respect for the tactical and clear headed thinking she displayed, which Korra lacked at the time, urged her into a brisk walk to the door. A firm few knocks and Korra waited quietly, hoping she wasn't interrupting anything. Perhaps notifying Raimei instead of just popping in unannounced would have been a better thing to do.
Too late now.]
no subject
Except she doesn't really have any goals here, not ones that she can achieve measurably. The mission had been a huge relief in that respect. The whole set up was familiar to her, down to having a team to go with, and as far as Raimei was concerned, they'd all occupied their roles well. More important than any demonstrable skill, they'd remained loyal to each other and dedicated to the stated purpose of the mission, and that was what Raimei looked for in teammates. So it was something of a relief to having something to do with herself that she knew she could accomplish, and get real, meaningful results for.
Even if those results had included a pile of corpses she'd never wanted on her conscience. That was something that every member of the world of Nabari had to contend with at times, but Raimei had only rarely had to before, and not in these quantities. Although she felt herself prepared to accept responsibility, as her mother had taught her, it was different in reality to face that. But she was trying. It was just hard to face it with nothing to distract her, isolated from her friends and unoccupied as she tended to be here.
That's why the knock on the door is so welcome, and she hobbles over adroitly on her single crutch to swing it open, face already lighting up with interest.]
Oh, Korra! What are you doing here? Do you want to come in? [Raimei's happy to see a teammate and, more than that, desperate for that distraction. She's already leaning back to give her room to enter.]

Once Korra entered the open grassy area encircled by trees, she knew she was in the right spot. Meeting Asbel here had her wondering how lost she would get. After all, there had to be a dozen areas that matched the description. Apparently not, at least not one of this size. Taking a grip of the sling bag on her shoulder, Korra looked around to see if he was here or she simply got here earlier than expected.]

Three very large groups of kedan, gangs by the dress of them, were shouting. Obviously some kind of fight was brewing over territory. Hoodlums and turf wars, just like back in Republic City, out of the city to keep away from the police presence.
With her bending back, Korra cracked her knuckles and hopped to slide down the rocky slope towards the heated argument that had started to break out into a fist fight. Which meant weapons weren’t far off from being used.
As she came down to the lowered elevation, she leapt forward and brought both her arms up, earth rising from underneath three kedan’s feet and knocking them over. A solid front kick sent a chunk of it flying into the air, squarely hitting one of the fighting kedan in the head and into the other with a loud thonk.]
You guys really make this easy, you know that?
no subject
Still, the motion drew the attention of one of the opposing kedan, he lunged at Aisha and she, knife in hand, promptly eviscerated him and stepped around his slackening body as if to join the rest of the fray. No comment to the girl, but there would certainly be words after.]

Like the Northern Water Tribe all over again. [Muttering to herself, Korra found herself in front of one of the fire fountains. Actually, it had been the one she damaged back during the satellite crash almost two months ago. Repaired, as if nothing had happened. Sighing, Korra sat down on the edge and got her waterskin to quench her thirst. If the spices she purchased were in any other sector, she would have gladly gone there instead.]

She's been doing that less and less lately, though. With the rationing and Johanna's disappearance, she doesn't have the luxury of losing herself any more. Finnick can't look after himself all on his own, despite appearances, and Cinna - Cinna is from the Capitol.
So when she spots the other girl sitting down and recognises her, she frowns, but doesn't shy away. It takes a moment of convincing herself, but eventually she walks over] You're Korra.

In the middle of Summer.
Whipped cream wasn’t on their menu, and they denied it to any who asked. After stopping by almost daily on her way home from fishing, the owner had taken a shine to Korra and her usually upbeat attitude. Today, after seeing her, she finally had whipped cream on her usual hot cocoa.
And she just stared at it, her eyes half closed and her arms folded in her lap.
That familiar voice causes her to finally blink, snaps her out of whatever she had lost herself in and Korra looked up to see Damian. Always so formal and direct, never beating around the bush; something she liked.]

The abrupt interruption of darkness was blinked away as she looked at the bed she was laying on, then the wall. Unfamiliar, it made her furrow her brow. This wasn't her bed. It was nice and chilly in here, so she knew it wasn't her suite. The temperature was a lot warmer since Toph had been staying there.
So why was she even here?
Then it all came back to her at once. Where she was, what she had seen, and who was with her at the time.
With an incomprehensible yell of surprise, Korra backed away from the sheets to free her legs and her hands came up defensively in front of her as she looked wildly around. Trying to quickly locate the green ring and it's owner, Kyle.]

When the door was slid open, Korra's eyes were shut and she was in the middle of gagging on a word the word forced her stinging eyes opened. She had assumed Toph was sound asleep when she got back from the field mission assigned by Evandau.
Trying in vain to stop from crying, it only constricted her breathing further and widening that lump in her throat that made her words practically inaudible.]

It's complicated. She knows that. Understands better than most why Korra must have snapped. But all of this is a little too eerily reminiscent of their first meeting, and this time there's no Tenzin to play peacemaker.
Finding Korra's apartment is easier the second time. She's always had a good sense of direction, and she's learning the city quickly. More quickly than she's comfortable, to be honest, now that these streets are so clear in her mind's eye and the nooks and crannies of Republic City are almost starting to fade.
But she brushes the thought out of her mind and knocks twice, firmly.]

Bending Demonstration!
[Clearly some sort of a distraction was in order, and as it had been offered to him once, Enjolras was pleased enough to take on that distraction now as he slipped out of the suite, without bothering to tell Combeferre he'd gone out, made his way to some of the places he had been told Korra frequented, hoping she would be around and willing to demonstrate how it was done.]
no subject
When Enjolras caught her eye, she had no idea how long he had been there, but the cause of that may be that she was close to twenty three feet in the air atop a spiraling vortex of water. Waving when she did see him, she called out:]
Hey! Just give me a second.
[Moving her arms in what may seem random directions at first, it eventually becomes a repeating pattern and as she does so, the water lessens and she is lowered to the ground. The sound of whirling water stopping completely when the tips of her boot touch down onto the ground.]

Even longer after Kyle horribleness
Both concerned, he and Asbel had discussed it, and Richard had decided to see Korra. He waited a few days until he knew she was back at home, and so here he is: knocking at the door to her suite.
A pungent order emanates from his basket. In return for her sea prunes (which, he is confident, he will eventually warm up to!), he has brought her natto toast.]
Re: Even longer after Kyle horribleness
